Mayor Randall L. Woodfin is pleased to announce the Jefferson County Personnel Board supports his plan to provide premium pay for city employees. This is the final approval needed to move forward with the plan.
In a statement, Mayor Woodfin said:
“I am grateful to have the support of the Jefferson County Personnel Board in our efforts to provide premium pay for our employees, who continue to serve through this pandemic. I am also thankful to the Birmingham City Council for working alongside me to provide this support for our employees who never waver in their commitment to neighborhood revitalization, public safety and economic growth in our city.”
The premium pay is the first step in the Magic City Recovery Plan, which is funded by the Biden administration’s American Rescue Plan of 2021.
City employees will receive their premium pay checks between June 25 and June 30, 2021.
